A loon nest in a lake only walking distance from where I live. It's rather surprising that a bird that you would usually see in the northern wilderness would nest in a small lake that is pretty well developed on both sides

Me too, although I am concerned about them. There has been a lot of algae growing on the lake and if there is too much algae, the fish will die and the loons eat fish

I think it's a first time mother, this is the first time loons have nested on this lake (I think)
